Former Russian ice dancer, Olympic champion in the team event, Ekaterina Bobrova, believes that French figure skater Kevin Aymoz showed disrespect to the audience at the European Championships in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Aymoz did not qualify for the free skate at the recent competition, finishing in the penultimate 31st place.
“Incredible skating in the short program from Kevin Aymoz —the last in technical score… It was something. Yes, people have different characters, but athletes have certain notes of developed character — overcoming oneself, never giving up, pushing forward. Without these character traits, you cannot perform at such a level. Now, Kevin has shown a lack of this character. Perhaps there is something we don’t know. Perhaps he has an injury, perhaps something is happening in his life. But to give up skating to this extent… Honestly, for me personally, as an athlete, it feels like disrespect to the audience,” said Bobrova.
“I love him as a skater; he has an amazing talent. During clean performances, we admired his programs this season. Yes, something went wrong; he missed the first jump. But when he didn’t go into the spin, adjusting his hair, I got the impression that he thought: ‘I don’t want to make it to the free skate.’ It felt like he gave up, like no matter how he would have skated the free program, he had already missed what he came to the European Championships for, and it’s a shame. But he decided to put a beautiful point on it with a Level 4 sequence at +4,” she added.
In the midst of this situation, Bobrova expressed the most sympathy for the coaches, emphasizing the wasted effort and work they had put in.”
Ed. Note: FS Gossips completely disagree with Bobrova’s statement and think that her comments are awful and posts its translation because believes that world of skating should know the true colors of their athletes.

But she is right on this one. I have long admired Kevins skating but the arrogance he showed made me betyder disapointed.
Bobrova’s prior use of performance enhancing drugs is more disrespectful. Have some more meldonium Katya and sit your ass down.
No, but maybe a skater who doped up with meldonium to skate is more disrespectful to the audience than one who skated clean but poorly.
Please show the entire video of the skater..skating.
Let each person decide
Every Russian drug cheat is disrespectful to the world so f off. You obviously have a sick young man whose federation and coaches shouldn’t have put him in this position. The team failed Kevin, not the other way around. Why is a Russian commenting on a clean competition they are not part of. Keep the trash away from the Olympics

Ekaterina Bobrova is right.
Based in his SP performance he NEEDS to be out of the game until he’s in a better place.
The truth can be tough sometimes
I honestly cannot see that her comments were awful. (Is the point of this blog trying to discredit the world of Russian figure skating?)
It has nothing to do with Ekaterina being Russian. I think her comments are awful because she was an athlete herself so she more than average skating fan knows how tough it might be and how many courage it requires to compete, to perform in front of the judges and the audience and how important the support is. And sure there were no need to make nasty remarks about him “adjusting his hair” and stuff like that.
Partially agree with her. To succeed you have to be of a certain caliber, both mentally and physically otherwise why is he in the game?
She did acknowledge that perhaps there’s something going on. He didn’t want to fight
Better to give his spot to another French skater ,
I hope he can straighten things out
