The figure skating ice show “Dream on Ice” took place on the June 30th at the KOSE Shin-Yokohama Skating Center. Mai Mihara, the women’s champion of the Grand Prix Final, made the first appearance of her new short program, to “To Love You More.” She expressed her enjoyment of the performance, saying, “I had fun debuting my program to the melody of the world-renowned singer Celine Dion.”
In this program, which was choreographed in collaboration with choreographer Jeffrey Buttle for the first time, Mihara spoke about the importance of capturing the nuances and expressions, saying, “While paying attention to the transitions and each sentiment, both the strong and gentle aspects can be expressed through skating.” The 2024 World Championships will be held in Montreal, Canada, which is also the hometown of Celine Dion. Mihara expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “It’s a perfect opportunity to combine various emotions. Since it’s music I love and is famous, I want to skate with all my heart, pouring my emotions into every movement.”
Regarding her goals for the new season, she stated her determination, saying, “After the disappointing experience at the World Championships where I finished fifth, I will focus on managing my health throughout the season and strive with all my might, cherishing each day, aiming for a consecutive victory at the Grand Prix Final and a podium finish at the World Championships.”
