Alexander Vedenin: The statement that ‘US federation has been monitoring’ looked very dubious from the beginning. It wasn’t the federation who monitored Diana and Gleb, but the new chairman of the ISU technical committee for ice dance Shawn Rettstatt. They wanted him to check their program for compliance with the new rules that had just been written by this particular person.

This is a very professional move – most likely organized by Eteri while she was in the US. This man has just been elected as the new chairman of the technical committee, he has just finished drafting the new rules. Of course, meeting him in the USA is a great luck for the skaters!

Diana and Gleb generally became the main newsmakers in ice dance. I am very sorry that they left with Igor Shpilband. He did a very good job, their future with this coach looked promising. I would like to hope that the guys will succeed with the new coaches.
