About one epaulette on the costume

Mikhail Kolyada: This is the idea of Ilia Averbukh, he wanted one epaulette. Why? I didn’t ask. We decided to try it this way. Apparently, everyone is tired of ordinary costumes, and this is some kind of unusual trick. Is the second epaulette prepared somewhere just in case? I don’t know, maybe in the atelier…

Every season, the first competitions brings special feelings for me, because everything seems to be from scratch. And it’s interesting to enter the season. Of course, not without mistakes, but we will continue to work.

About changing the short program

Mikhail Kolyada: Well, we originally had the Nutcracker, then we switched to Caruso, and then Alexei Nikolaevich (Mishin) said, no, let’s bring The Nutcracker back, we’ll just refine it. But to the original version, which we showed in Tartu, we added different things. Plus a costume after all, and not like there – in a training clothes.

Many choreographers came to us, I went to Moscow to work with Ilia, we also worked on The Nutcracker.

The program turned out quite good, maybe there is something to work on in terms of presentation, of course, there are technical mistakes, but in terms of choreography, I can say that I am satisfied. Still, it’s our native music and I kind of suggested it myself. That’s mine.

The thing with the arm at the beginning and end of the program is Ilia’s idea. There is a story that I was originally wooden, then in the process I turn into a prince, and at the end I close again. It’s like a double choreography here, so to speak. A little wooden, a little plastic.

The program turned out very winter, and we have a winter kind of sport, on New Year’s shows, this music often plays.
