Alexandra Trusova: “I believe that I am doing everything right in my life”
Alexandra Trusova does not regret leaving the group of Eteri Tutberidze and switching to the team of Evgeni Plushenko.

Your switched to another coach. Do you think it was the right decision? How has your skating changed now?
Alexandra Trusova: I believe that I am doing everything right in my life. I’m still learning something new. I am very glad, I really like to try different things. I think that in many ways I have become better – both in skating and in jumping. I hope it’s not just me who thinks so.
After a short program, I tried to forget this performance. Many people called me, wrote, supported me a lot. It helped me a lot. They constantly talked to me, said that it was okay. I was lucky to have a free day between the short and free program and I was able to distract from the short program and set myself up for the free program.
After I qualified for this World Championships, I decided that I would go there with five quads, because that was the kind of content I was preparing for the World Championships that did not take place. I’ve tried this before in competitions. Before that I got four, so the next goal was five quads.
Trusova admitted that it’s a shame that the rules prohibit performing quadruple jumps in the short program, but stressed that she would try to improve her performances without quads. When asked about the main goals for the near future, the skater replied that first of all she wants to skate the clean program with five quadruple jumps, and the Olympics is “the main goal for any athlete.”

Sasha, I wish you the best. 5 quads…it is a high risk. It ruins every programm. This year your programm (before world) you scated very well.Take an psychologist. It won’t be for nothing. Sasha is smart, charming, hard-working, and exciting to watch. I hope she continues to do what she is doing, improves on the consistency and skating skills, and just show the world all that she can offer at 2022 Olympics!
