Alexei Zheleznyakov: You know, we all have the right to make mistakes. We are not computers. We cannot predict certain situations, so certain mistakes happen. If Alena realized her mistake and apologized to Eteri Georgievna for her interview and other slander she said … Why not? If a person has made a mistake and repents, then one must be able to forgive. As it was with Zhenya Medvedeva. Yes, she left in an ugly way and everyone knows that, but you need to forgive! Such mistakes educate us!

Whad do you think about Alena’s shape after her performances at the Russian Cup Final?
Alexei Zheleznyakov: Compared to what was in Eteri Tutberidze’s team, Alena has no shape. You saw everything yourself at the competitions. There is no endurance, lightness. The shape is not terrible, but bad – this is obvious to everyone. However, these are fixable things. She need training, after them everything will fall into place. The main thing is desire. I always tell my students: “Guys, let God himself come down from heaven! Unless you yourself want something, there will be no miracles.” And I know Alena very well – she is a talented girl, she will return her shape.
Do you think her shape worsened while working for Evgeni Plushenko?
Alexei Zheleznyakov: Of course, you see everything yourself. I don’t know what happened in her training with Evgeni Plushenko … But it may be a transitional age. It may be not Evgeni’s fault at all. The person may have stopped working on himself. Unless the athlete himself wants something, nothing will happen. I do not presume to say that she lost her shape because of Evgeni, but her shape became much worse.
For example, Daria Usacheva showed herself well after Alena left. If Kostornaia returns, will she be able to fit into the current team of Eteri Tutberidze?
Alexei Zheleznyakov: It’s a difficult question. Now there are a lot of girls … Moreover, junior girls are on the way, and they are showing brilliant results. They jump quads, and everything in the world. It will be very difficult for Alena to mount her horse. A lot of work is needed to return to her former shape … And then you need to surpass your rivals, like Maia Khromykh and Daria Usacheva, who work hard and are not going to stand still. Youngsters are already on the way! But, again, this is all if Alena returns, but I have a feeling that this is fake.
