When to bring a child to figure skating?

Alina Zagitova: I started at the age of 5, but it wasn’t professional. I began to do it more seriously at the age of 7. Now, at the age of 7, children do colossal things that I definitely did not do at this age.

Now it’s better to start from the age of three. I am so sorry to say this … But this is also very cool, since you get used to discipline from childhood.

What is the difference between figure skaters at 14 and figure skaters at 18?

Alina Zagitova: In our sport, it is harder at 18. The older you get, the harder it is to endure the load that you did at 14.

What qualities helped you become an Olympic champion?

Alina Zagitova: Hard work. It takes a lot of qualities to be a high-level athlete. Of course, you should have people with you who will help you do what you are doing now – coaches. And you have to be calm.

What is the lifestyle of a professional skater?

Alina Zagitova: This is a very interesting life and, on the other hand, very difficult. But if you come to some result, you understand that everything was not in vain. These are very cool emotions.

Favorite elements?

Alina Zagitova: Jumps. Actually, all the elements are favorite, but there are more favorite ones – lutz, flip. I do not like toe loop. At first, jumps were not easy for me. There were so many tears. But then I worked them out to such an extent so now I like them.

How do you keep weight?

Alina Zagitova: In the morning I get on the scales. If there is a plus, I limit myself during the day. If the weight is ok – I eat only lunch and a little for dinner. I hardly eat breakfast. Now all phytoteachers tell me that on the contrary, I need to have breakfast. But I’m not doing this by the rules.

During the Olympic season, I almost didn’t drink water. To keep weight, I even limited myself in drinking water.
