Nikita Volodin: “Our goal is to skate for another four years. In my view, there’s no point in just going for one more season – you need a big, serious goal, and for figure skaters, that’s the Olympics.”
Nikita Volodin said he and Minerva Fabienne Hase plan to continue skating for another four years, aiming for the next Olympic cycle, and emphasized the importance of careful recovery and long-term goals.

In a conversation with Sports correspondent Maya Bagriantseva, German figure skater Nikita Volodin spoke about his decision to continue his career and prepare for the next Olympic cycle with Minerva Fabienne Hase. Here’s a translation.
“This was the toughest season of my career – primarily psychologically. The Olympics are a huge responsibility, the most important event of the four-year cycle, so by the end of the season, we were both completely exhausted. The fatigue was enormous, not so much physical as psychological.
There were many questions and certain doubts about what decision we would make after our vacation. It was unclear how the rules might change and in what new direction we could develop.
Now we’ve rested, recovered, discussed everything, and decided to continue.
Of course, different circumstances can always intervene, but our goal is to skate for another four years. In my view, there’s no point in just going for one more season – you need a big, serious goal, and for figure skaters, that’s the Olympics.
I’m already in Berlin: we went on vacation to Vietnam with friends, Lesha Sviatchenko and Sonya Evdokimova. So I’ve returned to the rink refreshed; yesterday was my first time back on the ice. Minerva has also started training, but for now, just in the gym.
We don’t want to rush – there are still some injury concerns: my shoulder, and Minerva’s shoulder and knee. We want to be careful with recovery, heal everything properly, and not force our preparation. After that, we’ll start full training. We’ll also have one more mini-vacation: Minerva hasn’t traveled yet because she was at army training, so she’ll take her vacation in July with her boyfriend.
We haven’t decided on new programs yet: there are some plans, but nothing concrete. Of course, we’re preparing to compete in the Grand Prix, but we don’t want to start the season too early. We’ll make all decisions closer to the start of the season,” Volodin told journalist Maya Bagryantseva.
