Alexander Plushenko is moving from Russia to Azerbaijan.

According to RIA Novosti, the figure skater received a release from the Russian Figure Skating Federation at the organization’s executive committee meeting held on Thursday.

After receiving documentation from the International Skating Union (ISU), he will be able to represent Azerbaijan in international competitions starting next season.

The son of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko is currently 13 years old.
