The figure skating ice show “Bloom On Ice” opened on May 1st at Amagasaki Sports Forest in Hyogo. Mone Chiba (21), who celebrated her 21st birthday today, also performed Here’s a translation of her comments posted on Nikkansports.
Before the show, the cast celebrated her birthday on the ice. “I never expected to be surprised like that. It became an unforgettable day,” she said joyfully.
This season, Chiba made her Olympic debut at the Milan-Cortina Games, finishing fourth, and achieved a personal best of second place at her third consecutive World Championships. With Milan Olympic silver medalist and five-time national champion Kaori Sakamoto retiring at the end of this season, expectations are high for Chiba as the next ace. “The level of Japanese women is extremely high, so whether I can be among them depends on my own efforts. I’m aware there are still many areas where I lack ability,” she said, bracing herself for the challenge.
