Evgenia Medvedeva spoke about the recent changes in figure skating rules. Here’s a translation.

For singles skaters – the number of permitted jump elements has been reduced from seven to six. Now, skaters are allowed to perform four solo jumps and two combinations, or one combination without using an euler and one sequence. In pair skating, performing three jumps in a combination is now prohibited, and the choreographic sequence has been removed from the free program.

“This is just crazy. What kind of nonsense is this? I think they also removed one of our spins and made it a choreo-spin. We already have a choreo-sequence, and now we also need a choreo-spin. And only six jumps. I remember when I was skating as a junior and in my first senior season, the men had eight jumps! And now it’s six! Why not make it three? And in the short program, let’s not jump at all,” Medvedeva said on the show “Katok.”
