French skater Adam Siao Him Fa seems to have found the right level of relaxation to perform well. Here’s a translation of their comments posted on L’Equipe.

“I’d have to watch it back because my sensations are sometimes a bit off, but I didn’t necessarily feel perfect on the jumps. I was in position, but it felt a bit less easy compared to the Olympics—more tense (I was 3rd provisionally there, before dropping to 7th in the end). But for the choreography and spins, it was much better. In training or competition, what works best is when I stop thinking and leave my brain at the rinkside.”

On his relaxation while waiting in the locker room:

“I was relaxed – maybe a bit too much, I started yawning. I told myself that wasn’t good, that I had a program to do and needed to wake up. There were a few slaps to the face, even if I didn’t go too hard.”

On the possibility of reaching the podium:

“It’s possible. It’s not one of my main goals, but I know that if I perform, the podium will be there. I really want to try to let go and have confidence in myself.”
