Swiss figure skater Kimmy Repond took to Instagram to share her thoughts after an Olympics free skate that didn’t go as planned. While she expressed disappointment over her performance, Repond showcased her resilience and gratitude for the journey that led her to the grand stage in Milano Cortina.

“Yesterday was definitely not the skate I was looking for. I had a couple of mistakes at the beginning of the program and I know I could have done a lot better. Of course I’m disappointed with that skate, but also I must remind myself that I only restarted to skate a bit longer than 2 months ago.”

Repond highlighted the challenges she faced just to make it to the Olympics. Over the last year, she battled both a physical injury and a particularly trying mental hurdle that tested her strength and perseverance.

“I went through a lot this past year with my injury and also with another issue that was very tough on the mental part. But nevertheless, I fought through all these struggles, and I made it to the Olympics!! And of that I’m very proud.

Mistakes can happen; it was just a bad day. But also I’m proud for fighting through a good program after the first falls at the beginning of the program and not giving up.”

While her Olympic journey didn’t unfold exactly as she had hoped in terms of her skate, Repond has chosen to focus on the positives – celebrating her resilience and success in reaching this incredible milestone.

Kimmy is already looking ahead to her next challenge. “Now I’m going to enjoy all of the Olympic moments left in the next few days and then go back to work for Worlds!!” Repond plans to use the experience to fuel her preparation as she takes on the World Championships later this season.

She concluded her message with gratitude for her fans and supporters, acknowledging their belief in her throughout this rollercoaster year. “Thank you for all your support and for believing in me.”
