South Korean figure skater Jia Shin spoke about her training ahead of his short program at the Olympics. Here’s a translation of her comments.
“With just a few days left before the short program, I’ve been focusing on refining all the elements in my routine,” she shared.
She also expressed her admiration for Junhwan Cha’s determination and resilience. “He’s a senior athlete I have a lot to learn from. I saw him live at the arena, and to see how he focused on completing the remaining elements after making mistakes on his jumps was such a valuable lesson.”
Reflecting on the challenges of maintaining composure after early mistakes, Shin added, “When you make a mistake at the start of a program, your mind can be overwhelmed with confusion. Honestly, it’s really hard to get your mental state back on track. Watching even the best athletes falter on the Olympic stage reminded me of just how difficult it is to overcome the pressure.”
