Anastasia Mishina explained that her partner Aleksandr Galliamov’s post-performance criticism is not directed at her personally, and emphasized their professional approach to training. Here’s a translation of her comments.

At the Russian Nationals in St. Petersburg, Mishina and Galliamov finished behind Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii.

Q: Does it bother you that by the third performance, your partner rather demonstratively expresses his dissatisfaction, as if the mistakes are solely your fault?

Anastasia Mishina: Of course, it’s unpleasant, but I understand that, in reality, the criticism isn’t aimed at me, no matter what words Sasha uses. It’s just an emotional outburst.

Q: Don’t such moments complicate working as a pair? And who is the first to make peace if a conflict does occur?

Anastasia Mishina: We don’t have a concept of “quarreled—made up.” We come to practice knowing that each of us must step onto the ice ready to work, without any personal issues affecting our relationship. We work together toward a specific goal. Every training session has a plan: we know in advance whether we’ll skate the program in parts, as a whole, or work on specific elements. We don’t discuss any unrelated topics during practice at all. Spending time on that would simply be unprofessional.”
