Italian figure skater Nikolaj Memola reported that his skates and competition costume were stolen from his car while he was receiving medical care. He posted on his Instagram Stories:
“Hello guys! A little update on yesterday:
In the short program, after a pretty hard fall on a quad Lutz, I tried to continue the competition, but after I landed my triple Axel I felt something really wrong in my pelvis.
I decided not tot take any unnecessary risks, so I had to withdraw.
My doctors suggested getting an X-ray to make sure nothing serious had happened so I drove to a great ER in Torino that specializes in bone injuries.
Sadly, while I was waiting for the results, someone broke into my car and stole my luggage with my skates, my short program costume, and my Normatecs.
Little inconvenience aside, tomorrow I’ll get an MRI to have a clear picture of the situation!
