Veronika Zhilina spoke about allegations of harassment by coach and choreographer Sergei Rozanov with whom she previously worked. Here’s a translation of her comments.

Earlier, Lyudmila Alferova, coach at the “Angels of Plushenko” academy and Veronika Zhilina’s mother, stated in a Telegram channel chat that Rozanov harassed her daughter when she was 11 years old.

“During a training camp in Kislovodsk, Sergei Rozanov came to my room, suggested, and persistently tried to convince me to let him give me a massage. I refused (at the time, I was staying alone in the room). The same thing happened in the gym, also in Kislovodsk, after a warmup session, where he insisted again after all the athletes and coaches had already left the room. He came with a can of beer and was coaching me in the room,” said 16-year-old Zhilina to Match TV.

Rozanov did not respond to Match TV’s request to comment on the situation. Rozanov previously worked at the academy of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko in 2020–2021. He also worked within the coaching group of Eteri Tutberidze.

In the 2022–23 season, Zhilina won the silver medal at the Russian Junior Championships. She also won the Russian Junior Grand Prix Final.
