Nina Pinzarrone: “I haven’t received a message from Loena Hendrickx yet, but I think she’s probably happy and motivated to return as soon as possible. And I’m happy that I might not be the only one representing Belgium at the Olympics.”

Nina Pinzarrone (18) spoke about her performance at the 2025 World Championships and securing two Olympic spots. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on Sporza.

With her 7th-place finish, Nina Pinzarrone secured her spot at the Winter Olympics and brought the second one for her injured teammate Loena Hendrickx. “Now the pressure can ease a bit,” she said.

“I received so many messages — I spent two hours replying to them,” Nina laughed. “But I was very tired, so I did manage to get some sleep.”

“Days like this don’t happen every day. I had to skate after the American favorite, so the 19,000 spectators were still cheering loudly when I took the ice,” told Pinzarrone. “I was so nervous, but I tried as much as possible to block out the noise, though that wasn’t easy. It was terrifying, but my great result and the Olympic spots are the cherry on top.”

Even after her free skate, there was still some nervous waiting. “I knew my performance wasn’t 100% perfect, and I made a few mistakes. I couldn’t be sure of a top-10 finish until the scores were announced.”

7th in the world and the best European was the result. “That’s crazy — a bit surreal,” she said. “Especially at such a young age. It’s a dream come true. I knew it was possible, but I still had to make it happen.”

Pinzarrone is now officially guaranteed a spot at the 2026 Winter Olympics. “I’m excited to work toward it and to enjoy the experience. It’s a little crazy to put it into words.”

Thanks to Pinzarrone’s 7th-place finish, Loena Hendrickx qualifies for the Olympic qualifying event. “Pressure? I tried not to think about it too much. Now the pressure has eased a bit.”

“I haven’t received a message from Loena yet, but I think she’s probably happy and motivated to return as soon as possible. And I’m happy that I might not be the only one representing Belgium at the Olympics.”
