Yuma Kagiyama (21) took part in official practice at the competition venue. Here’s a translation of his comments posted on Nikkansports.

Skating on the main competition rink for the first time, Kagiyama performed a complete run-through of his short program “The Sound of Silence,” landing all of his jumps clean. A round of applause erupted from the audience, and Kagiyama shared his thoughts: “Regarding the short program, we had edited the music slightly for this unveiling, so I felt a bit unsure about certain aspects, but the crowd’s reaction was really enthusiastic, which made me feel great.”

At the rinkside were Kagiyama’s father and coach Masakazu, Carolina Kostner, and choreographer Lori Nichol, who has worked on Kagiyama’s program this season. Nichol offered advice throughout the practice session, drawing praise from Kagiyama: “Lori was absolutely eager to be at the rinkside with us. Even during practice in Canada leading up to this event, she, along with the entire coaching team, supported me with amazing dedication — equal to or exceeding my own passion. That motivates me to push myself even harder, giving it my all.”
