Madison Chock and Evan Bates answered a question about Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry returning to competitions as a new team. Quoted by Sports correspondent Maya Bagriantseva. Here’s a translation.

“Guillaume and Laurence told us themselves that they decided to skate together and return to competitive sports. It was on one of our days off — we had gone out for brunch together. We’re incredibly excited and happy for them. I think they’re a perfect match for each other.

We’re very close friends with them, and they’re each other’s best friends as well, so I’m sure they’ll make a fantastic pair. It’s great that we’re all training on the same ice again every day,” said Madison Chock.

“Guillaume never really stopped skating. Yes, he’s been helping other skaters as a coach — including us, actually — but he never left figure skating entirely. We performed together often in shows, we’ve seen each other at the rink all the time, so I don’t think this marks a drastic change.

Of course, we’re all used to seeing them on the ice with their previous partners, but now they’re starting a new chapter as a pair, and it’s great that we’ll be seeing them compete again. Guillaume and Laurence have always been some of the most talented ice dancers out there, so I’m thrilled they decided to skate together,” added Evan Bates.
