Margarita Bazyluk (13), coached by Eteri Tutberidze, performed a triple axel – triple toe loop combination in her short program at the Russian Junior Championships. Here’s a translation of her comment.
“I had a small injury, and I wanted to skate my short program without the axel. Eteri Georgievna [Tutberidze] came from the European Championships and said: ‘You know how to jump it, why aren’t you going to jump? Jump.’ Thank God, I came here and jumped. In the free skate, I landed it more often than in the short program during practice.
I try to work more off-ice, to transfer it to the ice. I am trying to strengthen more, spend more time on my legs and back, so that it won’t bother me in the future. Did I miss much because of the injury? We just slightly reduced the training load,” Bazyluk said.
