Starting this year, practice time before performances has been set to replicate a more competition-like setting. Kaori Sakamoto who is in the midst of a three-year winning streak at the Women’s World Championships, unveiled her new Short Program (SP) saying, “I was able to perform as if in a competition, with the audience watching from practice.” She chose a tango for competition for the first time, expressing her excitement saying, “It’s part of the challenge leading up to the Olympics. I enjoy doing it.”
