Two-time world junior champion Mao Shimada (15) will start the new season as a member of the “Kinoshita Group”.

The announcement was made by her management company and Mao stated her determination by saying, “Like the wonderful seniors in the Kinoshita Group, I want to work even harder to become an athlete who is successful on the world stage and also appealing as a person. I wouldn’t forget to challenge, and I would be glad if I could deliver a performance that makes everyone smile.”

The Kinoshita Group includes Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, who won the World Championships in pair skating in 2023. The switch in affiliation does not change her training location. She will continue to train at the Kinoshita Academy Kyoto Ice Arena in Uji City, Kyoto.
