Translation of the Anna Shcherbakova comments in an interview witn Maria Khoreva.

“In life, I’m very absent-minded. In sports, everything is organized, but in life, I tend to lose or forget things, that’s definitely about me. I have many such cases. At the World Championships, I forgot my performance dress in the hotel before the free program. I realized this during warm-up in the arena. I didn’t tell the coaches and warmed up very, very quickly, doing everything three times faster, to have enough time later… Fortunately, the hotel and the rink were in the same building – I ran straight to get the dress just before the six-minute warm-up.

At the World Team Trophy, I was late for the bus to practice. It was in Japan, and everything was very strict – without accreditation, they wouldn’t let you on the bus to the rink. I had already walked down to the bus, realized I had forgotten my accreditation, and by the time I ran back up, the bus had left, and I was waving to it.

This happened before the free skate, I arrived half an hour late. Moreover, I was in the same bus with Sergei Viktorovich (Dudakov), who was already heading to the ice. And there I hid in the back seat and watched: it seemed like he didn’t see me. When we arrived, I thought: now he will get off the bus, go to the rink, and I will quickly run there as if nothing happened.

And he gets off the bus and starts talking to someone else from the coaches – right by the bus! But it seemed like he was standing with his back to the rink. I run out of the bus with my suitcase, and there was such a long staircase to the rink. And I’m running with this suitcase up the stairs, thinking: I hope he doesn’t see me. I arrive at the rink, and instead of a full warm-up, I have 5-10 minutes left to warm up. Well, it was before practice, I wouldn’t say it was very stressful. I was just afraid that they would see me and think that I was irresponsible, late everywhere.

I immediately start jumping. Then Sergei Viktorovich comes, looks – I’m just doing a jump. He looks and says “Good, good, as if you didn’t just run out of the bus.”

There were many such situations. At the Olympics, I also mixed up the bus schedule and arrived about 20 minutes later than planned. Well, that’s how it is… I’ve gotten used to it. It’s more amusing,” Shcherbakova said.
