Here’s a translation of Nina Pinzarrone’s comments made for Sporza about winning bronze at the 2024 European Championships.
“I am very happy and can be proud of myself. I did what I wanted to do and am happy with my performance and bronze medal. It’s crazy, but it’s not like I didn’t expect it; I wanted to do better than the 5th place last season. Having two Belgians on the podium is also super cool.”
As for not winning silver, Pinzarrone said “There might be a little disappointment, but I did what I could. I cannot determine the placement myself, and Gubanova also did well.”
“I was a bit nervous. It was a long wait because I had to skate last in the group. But I knew I can do it. I just had to focus and pretend it was a training session.”
Nina also shared that it was her goal to score over 200 points, “It was a goal because I was in the 190s a few times. Now I know I can score above 200 points, and that’s even more motivation. Where my limit is? I don’t really know. I just want to do better in every competition.”
Same as Loena Hendrickx, Nina pointed out the lack of facilities for training in Belgium, “It’s really bizarre that the two top skaters in Belgium don’t have a ‘home’ ice rink. We spend more time in the car than on the ice. That’s really a shame, and I hope it can change in the future.”
