Here’s a translation of Kamila Valieva’s comments about her relationship with her coaches posted on RSport.
“Kamila Valieva: I am very happy that there was the first stage (Grand Prix Russia in Kazan), all mistakes were taken into account, a big thank you to Eteri Georgievna (Tutberidze), Daniil Markovich (Gleikhengauz), Sergei Viktorovich (Dudakov). They have seen everything in training, there were some conflicts, but I am glad that we find mutual understanding.
I did the quadruple toe loop during the warm-up, but everything in our sport starts with the head. If there are doubts, they come out during the performance. I’m glad that I managed to take the first place; it’s a good push to move on.
No matter how difficult it is for me, whatever thoughts come to mind, I’m glad to continue. I thought last year was difficult, but it was preparation. I love this sport, as I mentioned yesterday, I want to perform for a long time.
We have been with Eteri Georgievna for so long that you start to feel warmer towards the coach. Like in a family, there may be something misunderstanding, but a big thank you to her; she is like a second mother in figure skating.”
