Evgenia Medvedeva commented on the judging in figure skating. Here comment was made regarding the scores at the Grand Prix stages in Ufa and Omsk, where judges gave scores for the components of Adelina Petrosyan and Mark Kondratiuk with rule violations. But still her comment may be interesting in general.
“It’s always a preference for the leader. Years of service. For Adelina, it’s not quite relevant, but for Mark – it’s years of service, the Olympics behind him.
Whether the judges had the right, that’s a separate issue. But talking about why this happens… There is a leader, and they help the leader.
Questions to the judges about the components have always existed. When the ‘technical and components’ system first appeared, people had questions about what the components depend on. A person falls and receives 8.5-9.5, and another falls and gets sixes. This is assistance to the current leader,” said Medvedeva.
