Tatiana Tarasova spoke about the fact that Canadian athletes are against the admission of Russians to international competitions.

Earlier, Tessa Virtue and other Canadian athletes sent a letter to the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Canada, which had previously supported the IOC’s position on the admission of Russian athletes in a neutral status, and urged not to allow the Russians.

Tatiana Tarasova: They, signing such letters, wish death to their friends with whom they competed! They all got into politics. What did our athletes do wrong to Tessa? She just shuts them down.

They just kill them! They kill their colleagues! This is a real murder and I can’t look at it any other way.

Previously, during the Olympic Games, wars were stopped, but they want to fight, they want to destroy their comrades, with whom they went on the ice together. Beasts, vile people!

You never know who does not want to see us. It always seemed to me that Canadians are a friendly, non-violent nation, they never showed themselves that way.

But here they can be understood: of course, they want to win, including in figure skating, at least something in ice dance. They don’t need more competition.

There is no other way to explain this statement. I do not want to believe that Tessa is an evil and unfair person. And I think that we will participate in the Games.

Russian public culture based on playing victim and mockery is beyond disgusting.. No suprise they criticize and abuse even their own skaters, Olympic medalists. I’m so lucky not to be born there!!

  2. Seriously? says:

Funny you should mention Olympic spirit…
“We promise to take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules and in the spirit of fair play. We all commit ourselves to sport without doping and cheating.”
That’s part of the Olympic oath. And granted, Russia does not have a monopoly on breaking it, but if you look up which country’s athletes have been stripped the most of their medals, let he give you a clue: it starts with R and ends with ussia. So maybe, Olympic spirit is not the best argument…
As for banning other nations, personally, I think you have a point. But two wrongs don’t make a right and whataboutism never wins an argument.

  3. No war says:

To Caroline: Maybe Russian figure skaters also participate in the planning of the military operations…? What a nonsense

  4. No war says:

Tough one. Russia is a dictatorship with no freedom of speech. Figure skaters and their coaches have no influence on the political decisions. Do we really expect that young boys and girls start fighting against this harsh regime risking losing everything, including their lives? Try to put yourself in their position. Are you that brave? (Ps: European politicians, especially Germans, have done more to strengthen the Russian regime than any Russian figure skater has…)

  5. lets go with politics says:

fun to see all these athletes breaking Olympic SPIRIT AND RULES
if you want to play with politics the Half of country MUST to be forbid in international events
all petro monarchy for finance terrorism
why nobody say anything against turkey and azerbajan both of them kill thousand pepole in ARMENIA, and try to kill Armenian pepole in the Artzakh Kingdom
turkey again kill with massive bomb attak kurdistan pepole in siria and irak
a lot of other country deserve to be BAN
the ” Best ” Biggest at the end because of genocide in TIBET and other one including ouigour
if you are against Russia you MUST To Ban all country previously say and Stop to be obssessed with only a very small part of the world IWAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU WILL DO

  6. Gis says:

I’m sorry but i feel that russian skaters are part of russian soft power and soft power is EVEN WORSE thatn strong power.
I understand why Canadian skaters don’t want to compete against them

  7. Carolina says:

The figure skating elites in Russia have VPNs and access to truthful information about what their country is doing to Ukraine. That is REAL MURDER, Tarasova, stop using those words in this way, it is disgusting!

  8. Vl says:

Cry Tatiana, CRY your cocodrile tears! Because no one cares.

  9. Louise says:

Just to be fair. Tessa Virtue has a bachelor degree in psychology.

  10. Angi says:

“Tessa as a former athlete who barely went to school is probably even less knowledgable than the average Canadian.”

OK this is the most hilarious nonsense I’ve read in a long time. Tessa has a university degree and is currently working on an Executive MBA. LOL this is wild.

  11. Skating 4funsies says:

I don’t know what’s more ridiculous, Tarasova’s statement or you defending it.
“This is real murder”…give me a break! What qualifies as murder (even as hyperbole and not actual killings) and what doesn’t is a topic that, at least at the moment, Russians should stay quiet about.
Also, it’s pretty bold to imply that Canadians as a whole are ignorant and incapable of critical thinking because they’re only “feeding their brains with news from one-sided Western media”, when the other side doesn’t even allow their people to call a spade a spade or, in this case, a war a war. The ‘the West is evil’ spiel is getting a little old, especially in light of the ‘evil West’ merely REacting. Russia is in this position because Russia *got itself* in this position. Not the Canadians, not the US, not anyone else.

  12. christine says:

Canadian’s aren’t friendly people, they are on the side of US since they only feed their brains with news from one-sided Western media. They are also not educated enough when it comes to history, politics, or culture of Europe and Asia. Tessa as a former athlete who barely went to school is probably even less knowledgable than the average Canadian.
Canada wants to have more chances in ice dance and without the Russians their chances are much better. Tarasova who has lot of experience and life wisdom knows this very well.
