Three-time Olympic figure skating champion and State Duma deputy of the Russian Federation, Irina Rodnina, stated in a conversation with an RB Sport correspondent that the ISU (International Skating Union) might allow young athletes from Russia to participate in international figure skating competitions. According to Rodnina, international federations are slowly rectifying their own mistakes.
Here’s the translation of Rodnina’s comment:
“Perhaps in figure skating, we should also expect the admission of our juniors, just like in football. International federations are slowly starting to correct their own mistakes. I think they all understand perfectly well that they made a lot of emotional mistakes in their time. As for boycotts, it’s logical that they will happen. But I can’t say whether they will influence the final decision. Anything is possible”, – said Rodnina.
As a reminder, the ISU Council meeting will take place in Lausanne from October 6 to 8. The agenda includes the issue of admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions.
