The figure skater had been training with Tutberidze since 2017, but in 2020, she moved to Evgeni Plushenko’s academy. After a year, she returned to Tutberidze.

Alena Kostornaia: I had one season left before the Olympics, and I went to Eteri Georgievna with the thought that in a short period of time – if she managed to, so to speak, lead me to senior competitions with successful results almost in the same amount of time – maybe it would work again.

But I couldn’t guarantee even myself that it would work out. Actually, I can’t even say that “It didn’t work because I didn’t listen to the coach.” There were other factors that, so to speak, hindered me from fully performing my work, which affected the training process.

And it’s not the coach’s fault that I wasn’t meeting my quatas. It’s pointless to look for someone to blame here.
