“You are a champion, but incomplete champion. Yes, you won, but there were no Russians at the competitions. This humiliates and devalues the victory of our competitors.” Ilia Averbukh about suspension

Ilia Averbukh: This is an absolutely unfair anti-sport decision. Athletes have a short age; they are not like singers or artists who can wait for inspiration. We need here and now.
You are a champion, but an incomplete champion. Yes, you won, but there were no Russians at the competitions. This humiliates and devalues the victory of our competitors. They also don’t let us compete. And who benefits from this in the end?
Figure skating is a sport where Russia is the flagship. Internal competition is very high, and we understand that if you are in the first roles in Russia, then you will be at least at the level of the top 10 in the world.
The Figure Skating Federation showed great care, we have a large number of competitions and the opportunity to keep in shape and motivated. But we, of course, look forward to when everything is decided and we will compete at international competitions.
