On February 5, the winners of the ISU Most Valuable Skater nomination will be announced in Zurich. In addition to Shcherbakova, Olympic champions Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron from France and Nathan Chen from the United States, claim the award.
“The ISU Council considered the issue of nominations for the ISU Awards at its meeting in October 2022.
The Board was informed that there is no legal basis to exclude Russian and Belarusian skaters who meet the criteria for the respective award categories and therefore decided that any skaters from these countries could be included in the long list of candidates for public voting and media.
The ISU Council also agreed that any nominees from Russia or Belarus will not be invited to attend the awards ceremony in person for security reasons, which is in line with ISU policy, but may be invited to join online.” TASS quotes the response of the ISU press service.
