Goals and new programs
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: For me, one goal is not about getting to the Olympic Games, which you have thought about. My goal is to show my best this season so that I know for sure: it doesn’t matter what the alignment will be, but I did everything, did my best to get to the Olympic Games.
I want to show an improved version of myself and break some of my personal record. This is my main task, and everything that has to happen, it will happen.
The choreographer of my new free program is Nikita Mikhailov. He did my short program to Billie Eilish and I really enjoyed working with him. We decided that working with him we would get a good free program for the Olympic season.
I really like the music, but we haven’t finished it yet, and I want to show the final version. It will be a classic Liza, but in a more interesting way. I feel like I will enjoy this program in the Olympic season. It turned out very cool, fun.
Quad jumps
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I am working on a quadruple jump. Back in Kislovodsk, I began to restore it. I understand that it is definitely needed in the Olympic season. I also understand that, most likely, several quads will be needed, but so far I have one in my mind. We are working on it. And I’m pretty sure it will happen. And when I have such a state, then, most likely, it will be so.
Jumping competitions within our group? My lutz is still very raw and unfinished. But here Misha Kolyada works on the quadruple lutz, Andrei Lazukin returns to the sport very actively and already jumps both the quadruple lutz and toe loop, Zhenya Semenenko showed the quadruple lutz in training at the end of last season. Almost everyone in our groups jump.
It’s cool, boys have a competitive moment. Each wants to do it better than the others. I compete with little Liza inside myself, who does not want to rotate quads, she is afraid. I fight with her every time in training.
Popularity of figure skating
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: I think that a little show business will not hurt, because this is PR, the popularization of the sport.
We had a small gap in figure skating when Evgeni Plushenko, Alexei Yagudin, Irina Slutskaya retired. There was a small recession, and now I am glad that figure skating is again returning to the ranks of the leaders in views and popularity in Russia. Because it really gives us a lot of possibilities. Maybe it happens a little thanks to me too.
It’s cool, it gives you more motivation to work, because a lot of people are watching.
