“This is my sixth season in senior skating and probably the hardest one” Evgenia Medvedeva confirmed her non participation in Russain Nationals
Evgenia Medvedeva confirmed that she will not compete at the Russian Nationals.
Evgenia Medvedeva: Unfortunately, I have to confirm my non participation in Russian Nationals, this is our decision.
This season is probably the most difficult when it comes to health. In the fall, I had back problems, severe pain, because of which I missed more than a month of training. I had to spend a lot of time in clinics.
After my back felt better, and I just started to enter the training regime, I got very sick.
Evgenia also confirmed that she had a coronavirus.
Evgenia Medvedeva: Yes, back in November. I missed most of November and early December due to illness, and was hospitalized with serious lung damage. Now I am more or less healthy, but I only got back to the ice on December 8th.
The doctors recommended trainings in a gentle mode. In fact, I have two weeks to prepare for the Russian Nationals, in such circumstances and with the doctors’ recommendations it’s impossible. I understand that I let my fans down, but such is the life of an athlete.
This is my sixth season in senior skating and probably the hardest one. We will work to make everything go well. I’d like to be back on the ice as soon as possible!
Future plans? Train, prepare for the next competitions, for the next season. And hope that health will not bother. I would also like to wish everyone health and take care of yourself.
