Kaitlin Hawayek / Jean-Luc Baker showed their new free dance for season 2016-2017 at Skate Chicago.

FD Liszt Liebestraum

it’s really nice and beautiful dance, light, tender, no drama and no one dies at the end. I like such concept for young pairs. But I can’t get rid of feeling that we’ve already seen it all so many times before…..Everything is lovely and well choreographed and music cuts are very good, but something we’ve seen in Virtue and Moir’s dances (hello Mahler No.5), something in Weaver and Poje’s dances (hello Four Seasons). I can’t say that Angelika Krylova did a bad job, but it seems that she doesn’t know what to do with this duo. They stuck in one style and I don’t see any progress. Plus old lifts…..They deserve more interesting programs and I’m sure they’re capable of much more! Hope their short dance will be more creative, because it won’t be an easy season for them, they definatly need a breakthrough.

last year in free dance they skated to “The theory of everything” For me it was a beautiful dance – they told us a story, in my opinion that dance “was alive”… Unfortunately I can’t say that about this year’s free dance and I need to say that I’m disappointed becouse I like this team a lot, but have the impression that this is a step back:(
But I really like Kaitlin’s dress – hope she will keep it during competitions :)

Let me start out by saying I know nothing about skating. Couldn’t tell a soft knee from a stiff one. Just know what I like. I found this whole program a yawner. If it weren’t for the fact that I liked them I would have stopped watching the minute the music started. As you said it all looks so familiar. Good teams coming up from juniors this year and next. I fear they could get passed by.

I liked them a lot in juniors. They seemed a very promising duo. I also liked their Romeo and Juliet program. But then they stuck in same lyrical, uplifting style….. Honestly, I can’t remember what was their dance last season…..but I still remember their sd and fd in their last season in juniors. Maybe they need to change a coach? Ot at least try a new choreographer?
