Recently Evgenia Medvedeva showed a new gala program to Sailor Moon, created especially for the show in Japan.

Comment from Ilia Averbukh on this program:

Gala program allows the athlete to take risks, to change, to try new characters. As an experiment this program succeed. It was made by Daniel Gleyhengauz, who works with Eteri Tutberidze’s group, specially for the tour in Japan. The Japanese love figure skating. And such specific gesture of course caused favor of the public.

I’ve never done an exhibition programs for her, it’s not very interesting for me to work on such programs. But I want to note that this program is a very good move. After all, all such programs are made to please the fans.

Medvedeva looks great, she is in amazing shape – both appearance and an internal mood. She makes full run throughs of the short and free programs with almost a full set of elements. I think both are definite movement forward. Though, I need to admit that we have a pressure from last season’s successful free program. – Averbukh said. (more about Evgenia’s new program here)

I really appreciate such approach to gala programs. I think it’s a good way to show the respect for your fans, viewers. Because honestly, I’m tired of all the same typical exhibition programs and approach – let’s re-skate our short program to another music. Well done Evgenia!

And I really like the drawings of Evgenia in Sailor Moon style on her Instagram:
