Tatiana Volosozhar: we’re satisfied with the season

Tatiana Volosozhar about results of the season and vacations.

Tatiana, how are you feeling?

Tatiana: Thank you! Now I’m fine in terms of health and mood! Now we are in Dubai, this trip is one of the gifts for our wedding. But only in May we were able to go!

How do you assess this difficult season? May the victory at the European Championships be noted as a positive event of your return?

Tatiana: The season was really difficult. First of all, we went back to the sport after making it from an injury, because of which missed the entire post Olympic season. As it turned out, it was much more difficult to return than we imagined. We had prepared seriously, started the season with our traditional tournament in Oberstdorf in late September, won it and a little bit got back “ourself”, we’ve felt back in the ranks. This was followed by important starts, but injuries didn’t allow us to skate full series of Grand Prix, competitions in France were canceled due to a terrorist attack, and we couldn’t go to Japan because of my injury. But I can say that on the whole we’re satisfied with the season, we have carried out our own individual plan for the season, won the Russian Nationals and won our 4th European title and it were main goals for us.

How much has increased the competition among the top sports pairs the world? How do you feel about the new trends – increase of technical difficulty of programs and moving to quad throws and twists? Won’t the artistry of figure skating, as it’s component of combination of the sport and art go to the background?

Tatiana: Competition in pair skating has always been high, I believe that now figure skating has gone in a little bit different direction, due to execution of the multi-turn jumps and throws the emotionality has left. Now the program mostly  – it isn’t a choreographed stories that captivate the viewer, like in theater or movie, but the pursuit of multi-turn elements. Of course, it’s really difficult to combine!!! Fortunately or unfortunately, this process can’t be stopped, and those who want to stand on the highest step of the podium need to put these elements!

Their coach Nina Mozer told that Tatiana and Max won’t rush the in the next season.
