“Q: In your opinion, how competitive would our athletes have been at the last World Championships?
Nikita Katsalapov: Of course, our athletes could have contended for good placements. At least in ice dance, everything is really moving in the right direction for us. The athletes are well-prepared and fully engaged in the competitive process. It’s certainly encouraging to see how they work on their programs, refine their elements, and strive to deliver beautiful and high-quality skating.
Q: Are there any real competitors for Guillaume Cizeron right now? What are your impressions of his partnership with Laurence Fournier Beaudry after his long career with Papadakis?
Nikita Katsalapov: In my opinion, Cizeron has no competitors at the moment. He and Laurence have done a tremendous job and have achieved excellent results in a very short time – just one year. Not every pair could go that far so quickly. I was so impressed that I even wrote to Guillaume to support him and share my feelings.”
