Kaori Sakamoto (26) held her retirement press conference in her hometown of Kobe on the May 13th, where she spoke about the most memorable programs she has performed. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on Nikkansports.

Throughout her career, Sakamoto delivered many iconic programs. When asked which program left the biggest impression, she smiled and said, “Choosing just one is the hardest.” She added, “’Amélie,’ ‘The Matrix,’ ‘Hymne à l’amour’… It’s hard to pick just one,” she replied, drawing laughter from the audience.

On the other hand, when asked about the most challenging programs, she cited the Janet Jackson short program choreographed by Rohene Ward for the 2022–23 season and the “Tango” from the 2024–25 season. “The short program is only 2 minutes and 50 seconds, but it was packed with choreography – so much that I wondered, ‘How can you fit this much in?’” she recalled. “It was amazing to be able to jump in the flow of that choreography. That was the hardest part,” she revealed.
