Mone Chiba, the women’s figure skating world silver medalist, attended the Kinoshita Group’s entrance ceremony held at “MAO RINK TACHIKAWA TACHIHI” in Tokyo on the 13th. The ceremony, which took place on the ice rink, featured performances by athletes affiliated with the group. Here’s a translation of his comments.

Chiba looked back and said, “I really enjoyed skating because the new employees were so happy.”

Last season, Chiba made her Olympic debut at the Milan-Cortina Games and won a silver medal at the World Championships in Prague this March, capping off a fulfilling season. As April arrived and she celebrated the new beginnings of her peers, Chiba spoke about her own future: “I hope to work in a field related to sports. If I could get a job supporting sports, that would be ideal.”

At Waseda University’s School of Human Sciences, she explained, “It’s still unclear which area of study will be most useful in the future, so I try to study a variety of fields in a balanced way.”

She added, “I especially want to be able to speak English well, so I’m taking university classes and also studying on my own. This year, I’m also taking courses in sports training science, so I’m looking forward to learning thoroughly from spring.”

Now 20 years old and looking ahead to the Olympics in the French Alps four years from now, Chiba is preparing for the next season after a brief rest. “I want this to be a year of challenges,” she said. “In terms of technical challenges, that means learning new skills, but even when acquiring them, it’s important to further develop the abilities I already have. This season, there were many areas where I was recognized, but I also found new challenges. I want to consistently showcase my strengths in my performances,” Chiba expressed with determination. “I want to make this season one where I can feel that I’ve become even stronger, just as I have in the past. I intend to take on challenges both technically and artistically.”
