Natalie and Filip are looking forward to the strong support of a sold-out crowd, with whom they hope to connect emotionally during their routines. Here’s a translation of their comments.
“We’re excited. We arrived last night, so we’re still acclimating to our time zone because we were in Finland. We think it’s going to be absolutely great, and we can’t wait. We’re proud to be here,” said Natalie Taschlerova.
They want to use the fans’ support in their performances as well. “The rhythm dance is one big Latin party on ice, and the free dance is inspired by the movie Matrix. So we’re trying to bring people into our world, so they can feel the emotions and enjoy it,” she said.
The siblings also want to benefit from the fans’ enthusiasm. “It’s a sign that the emotions are coming from us, that we can connect with the audience and people are enjoying it. That’s why we do figure skating—to share our emotions and touch everyone, to evoke some feeling in them. That’s the direction we want to go. I’m grateful we can do this,” said Filip Taschler.
After the Olympic competition in Milan, where they finished fifteenth, they took some time to rest. “We focused on relaxation. Then we returned to Helsinki and started fine-tuning the details, running through the programs again. We focused on enjoying the process more. After all, it’s the end of the season. Everyone feels a bit tired, especially since it’s an Olympic season. But we tried to get into the form we want to be in,” said Natalie Taschlerova.
According to her brother Filip, the pair should be in ideal shape. “The whole training was tough, but the hardest part is behind us. Now we just want to enjoy it as much as possible, connect with the audience, and skate for ourselves. This season has been a kind of rebirth, and we’re really enjoying it. Even the preparation – on the last day, we hugged and had tears in our eyes because, for the first time, we truly enjoyed preparing for such an event, so we’re really looking forward to it.”
They don’t have specific goals. “We really don’t care. I don’t have a number, I don’t have a score. Let’s just enjoy it – it’s a show,” said Filip Taschler. “Our biggest goal is to enjoy it with the fans. We know there will be lots of people we know, some coming to see us for the first time. We want to show what we can do and what we do on the ice,” added Natalie Taschlerova.
