Russian figure skater Adeliia Petrosian reflects on her 6th place finish at the Milan Olympics, expressing a calmer outlook and a desire to enjoy her performances more. Here’s a translation of her comments.
“I’m already feeling a bit better and calmer about everything that’s happened. Now I’ll take a breath and continue working. I’ll analyze my inner state; I think I want to approach all of this more calmly and with more joy. I hope this stage of my life will help me in the future, and that I’ll be able to simply move from one push of the blade to the next and enjoy it.
Speaking about what I’d like to learn from foreign competitors, it’s precisely about enjoying each performance, regardless of whether it goes well or not. They always find something to praise themselves for, to be proud of, to admire. In some ways, that’s a good thing – they approach everything calmly,” Petrosian said.
“Officially, we compete under a neutral status, but people still support you and your country. My coaches and federation representatives are here, so I didn’t feel much pressure in that regard.” she added.
