Mikhail Shaidorov reflects on his emotional journey to Olympic gold in the men’s figure skating competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Here’s a translation.

“It’s an incredible feeling. I’ve been working toward this goal since childhood. I gave it my all, and it seems that fate has rewarded me. I sincerely cheered for all the athletes, my competitors. I wish them all to become the best version of themselves. The support I felt was immense. This moment was unforgettable. I planned five quad jumps in my program to show everything I’ve achieved over the years. A huge rachmet [thank you] to everyone.”

Shaidorov went on to add, “After my performance, I didn’t think I would win a medal. But what mattered most to me was showing how much figure skating has developed in Kazakhstan and how far I’ve come myself,” said Shaidorov.
