The International Olympic Committee (IOC) commented on the problems Russian figure skater Petr Gumennik is facing with music copyright at the 2026 Olympics in Milan. Here’s a translation.

“I’ve already heard about this; obviously, it’s an issue between him and his national federation. You need to contact the International Skating Union (ISU). As I understand it, the skater is responsible for clearing the music,” said IOC Communications Director Mark Adams.

The ISU later also commented on the situation.

“As with other athletes, Gumennik is responsible for ensuring copyright compliance for the music used in his performance,” the ISU press office stated.

Gumennik will perform his short program at the Olympics in Milan on February 10.
