South Korean figure skating legend Kim Yuna has earned over 100 billion won annually from advertising, using her success to support and promote the sport. Here’s a translation.

According to Korean media outlet “Wikitree,” Yuna’s advertising revenue is substantial. “During her peak as an athlete, she began with KB Kookmin Bank commercials and went on to shoot ads for air conditioners, coffee, sneakers, cosmetics, and more – an incredible total of 136 commercials in a single year,” the report notes.

Even after her retirement, “it was revealed that Kim Yuna signed over 100 advertising contracts. The estimated fee per commercial is 1 billion won. Simple calculations show that Kim Yuna’s annual advertising income exceeds 100 billion won,” the report stated.

Additionally, “she currently owns a luxury residence in Seoul’s eastern district and three shopping centers in the new city of Incheon,” indicating her active involvement in real estate investment.

However, as a true legend of figure skating, Yuna is not just focused on earning money – she also gives back to the sport. “Some have criticized her for taking on so many commercials for financial gain, but Kim Yuna reportedly set special contract conditions for each deal. She required companies to support figure skating and encouraged sponsorship of the sport as part of her advertising agreements,” the report explained.
