Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, Japan’s Olympic pairs representatives, resumed training after Miura’s shoulder injury and are on track for full recovery ahead of the Milano-Cortina Games. Here’s a translation of their coach’s comments posted on Sponichi.

Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, who have been selected to represent Japan in pairs figure skating at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics next February, resumed training on the December 27th after Miura’s rest period due to a left shoulder dislocation.

Coach Bruno Marcotte revealed this to Kyodo News on the same day. Miura was injured at the Japanese Nationals, which concluded on the December 21st, leading them to withdraw from the free skate.

According to Marcotte, the pair did light training at their base in Oakville, Canada, including checking lifts on land and working out at the gym. “Everything is going according to plan. I think they’ll be able to perform all technical elements by next weekend. We’re feeling very confident heading into the Olympics,” he said.
