Tatiana Tarasova praised Kamila Valieva for her resilience after her disqualification ended and expressed hope for her return to competition. Here’s a translation.
“Valieva is amazing! If she wants to return to competition, she has my respect. We wish her a full recovery.
They wanted to destroy Kamila with a four-year disqualification, but they only managed to bring her down.
I think Valieva is doing well. I saw her at Tatiana Navka’s show – she looked wonderful.
It’s wonderful that Valieva has decided to continue her career and is working towards it now. We miss her; I love her very much. She is a great and genuine talent,” Tarasova said.
At the same time Tarasova admitted she is tired of constant questions about Kamila Valieva’s possible return to figure skating.
“You’re going a bit overboard with Kamila Valieva. She’s already been away for four years, and now there are endless questions: how will she return to the ice, how will she cope with everything… She knows how to handle it. If she wants to come back, and when she does, we’ll all be very happy.
I personally will be very happy. Because her return will show her character and love for the sport. That kind of love never fades, and a person with such unique talent always wants to show their abilities to the world, and I think she will succeed.
I’m just exhausted by questions about Kamila. If you had a wife or daughter, would you pester her from head to toe like this? How is that acceptable?” Tarasova said.
