The International Skating Union (ISU) Council will consider the issue of allowing Russian figure skaters to participate in competitions starting next season at its meeting on January 13. This was reported by a source to RIA Novosti.

“The next meeting will take place on January 13 in an online format. The agenda has not yet been officially finalized, but it has already been informally communicated that the issue of admitting Russian athletes will be discussed.

It is most likely that priority will be given to the admission of juniors, in accordance with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee, although senior athletes are also ‘in line.’

It is noted that, if a positive decision is made, Russian juniors will be able to participate in competitions from the next season. Admission to the remaining part of the current competitive year is complicated by ‘logistical problems,’ the source said.

Russian figure skaters have not competed in ISU sanctioned events since 2022. In the current season, Petr Gumennik and Adeliia Petrosian were allowed to participate in Olympic selection events under neutral status.
