The International Olympic Committee (IOC) avoided answering whether Russian figure skating coaches will be allowed at the 2026 Winter Olympics, confirming only the neutral status of skaters Adelia Petrosyan and Petr Gumennik.

Earlier, it was announced that skaters Adeliia Petrosian and Petr Gumennik have been approved to participate in the Games under neutral status. The 2026 Olympics will be held in Italy from February 6 to 22.

The IOC press service noted that the list of neutral athletes and coaches approved for the Games will be updated.

“As stated in the publication, this list will be updated in accordance with the decisions of the commission on granting neutral status. We have nothing further to add,” the organization said.

Well, that’s a bit inexact, I suppose. Indeed, russian coaches have been allowed to international competitions when the athlete did not represent Russia. For instance, Nika Egadze came to the grand prix competitions this year with his “russian” coach Eteri Tutberidze.
