Georgi Kunitsa confirms plans to resume competing in pairs skating with Alena Kostornaia. The couple, who recently welcomed their first child, hopes to return to competition by the end of this season or the next, depending on Kostornaia’s recovery. Here’s a translation of his comments.
Figure skater Georgi Kunitsa has announced that he and Alena Kostornaia plan to continue their competitive careers in pairs skating. At the end of September, the couple welcomed their first child – a son named Dmitri.
“We will have a New Year’s tour with the Sleeping Beauty show in Minsk. Then we’ll participate in The Nutcracker. After that, we’re planning to return to competitive skating with Alena Kostornaia. Maybe we’ll compete at the end of this season or possibly next season. It all depends on how her recovery progresses,” Kunitsa explained.
“I’m glad I was able to confirm my Candidate for Master of Sport (CMS) ranking. I set a goal and achieved it. Special thanks to Nastya Korobeynikova, who helped me with this. I think she’s currently looking for a partner. She performed well and could find herself a strong partner,” Kunitsa added.
